Werk24 in Industrial AI Podcast by Robert Weber

Werk24’s AI tool was highlighted as a smart solution for reading information from technical drawings by Robert Weber who is a specialist journalist for industrial topics and discusses AI applications in his Industrial AI podcast (external link) with AI expert, Peter Seeberg. Why Werk24?

Upon learning about Werk24, Robert began to inquire "Who?" and "Why?". Jochen briefly described Werk24, a company that extracts information from technical drawings. What Werk24 can accomplish is convert difficult-to-read technical drawing formats into something that is straightforward to handle for subsequent steps. You may therefore verify if the part is suited for additive manufacturing, or whether it is feasible with the machines that you have, etc.  

Robert then questioned as to why this is so crucial in such a digitalized environment, which does not seem to require further drawings. So, Jochen clarified the real world of manufacturing: it is difficult for the non-mechanical person who receives the technical drawing as a supplier, to understand the drawings. Because documentation is typically converted into a technical drawing before leaving the building, it is therefore vital for companies to have preparation units that extract information for suppliers. Werk24 also processes technical drawings that are often less than a year old which shows fresh ones are prepared every day. In fact, it appears that many manufacturing companies require the data from technical drawings today. 

What About Background of Werk24 Solution?

What makes Werk24's solution reliable? Jochen clarified the technical processes in the background of the solution when Robert posed the inquiry in curiosity:  

"Our technology has two components: (i)machine learning and (ii)engineering validation part. The machine learning component recognizes specific elements and makes interpretations from the technical drawings. Then the engineering part is asked, "Does this interpretation make sense from an engineering standpoint?" It is similar to a double check for valid interpretations." 

Following his newfound knowledge of the technical process, Robert expressed interest in hearing about Werk24 customers. Jochen provides several customer examples who have already integrated API into their internal process flows. Online manufacturer Laserhub, cloud manufacturer Kreatize, additive manufacturer Dimanex and a German injection molding manufacturer are among these customers. 

Jochen and Robert discussed further about customer stories, the business model, Werk24 offerings such as API integration, machine learning training, Werk24 AI process and so on in the podcast.
